Ouachita Parish, Louisiana Inmate Search

Now and then, an individual may be apprehended on suspicion of a crime by the police force in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, and placed in secure custody (jail) pending judicial proceedings. Multiple reports or administrative documents are often generated in such an event, one of which is an inmate record.

The process of locating inmate records in Ouachita Parish is commonly called an "inmate search." Inmate searches are convenient for looking up the custody status, the precise holding unit/facility, or charges for an arrestee or detainee, among other details. In Ouachita, these searches are primarily conducted through the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO), the county agency responsible for managing the local jail (formally called the Ouachita Correctional Center, or OCC).

All law enforcement agencies within the parish, including the West Monroe and Sterlington Police Departments, use the OCC as the central hub for pre-trial detention. While local investigations may cause an arrestee to spend time at the police station temporarily, arrestees may later be transferred to the OCC (if an adult) or Green Oaks Detention Center (if a juvenile) for booking and continued pre-trial detention.

When an Ouachita Parish detainee has been transferred to federal or state jurisdiction, the researcher can query the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections or the Federal Bureau of Prisons, respectively.

How to Send Money to an Inmate in Ouachita Parish Correctional Center

Sending money to an inmate at the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center requires adherence to procedures enforced by the Sheriff’s Office for correctly funding an inmate’s commissary account. Generally, senders can fund inmate accounts online, by phone, via mail, or at lobby kiosks.

Online and phone deposits are made through the jail’s vendors, whose designated telephone numbers and websites are listed on the Sheriff’s Offender Trust Accounts page. A small convenience fee typically applies for payment services.

Lobby kiosks are available to in-person depositors at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office or Ouachita Parish Correctional Center. Depositors can fund with cash or credit/debit cards.

Lastly, a physical money order can be sent to 4801 Highway 165 Bypass, Monroe, LA 71202. (Physical money orders can be purchased from the U.S. Postal Service, Western Union, or MoneyGram outlets.) Each money order must be accurately and completely filled out, including the inmate’s full name and state ID, as well as the sender’s information. Note that an inmate’s state ID can only be obtained from them; the jail/OPSO does not provide this information. Secondly, senders must include their complete return information to enable processing.

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

The Ouachita Parish Correctional Center provides an online Inmate Inquiry system to locate inmates/detainees under the local Sheriff’s Office’s supervision. This tool disseminates custody information for adults who have been apprehended and are awaiting court proceedings, or adults whose criminal cases concluded with an incarceration sentence and are serving time at the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center or the Transitional Work Program.

Juveniles are not listed in the Inmate Inquiry system because they are supervised by a separate county office-the Ouachita Parish Police Jury-and their records are closed to the general public under Louisiana Children’s Code Art. 412. Only statutorily sanctioned persons, such as a juvenile’s counsel or parent/legal guardian, the district attorney, peace officers, probation officers, and authorized court personnel, may access the records.
